The first meeting of the year in Area 22 is traditionally the New Year Brunch held at the Ragged Cot, Minchinhampton.
On the day the weather looked threatening with amber warnings of snow and ice in the afternoon. Should we go ahead was the question? Of course, was the answer and thirty-six members and partners eventually met at the pub. It should have been more, but ailments and family matters intervened as usual.
Sound levels were very high in the dining room as tales pf the family Christmas and world events took equal priority. Eventually we sat down to an excellent hot buffet of Welsh lamb kofta, beef stroganoff, Thai curry and fish cakes accompanied by various salads. Plates were quickly cleared, many going back for seconds, in my case fourths!
By 1530 the skies were darkening, and it was time to say goodbye and set off home before the snow arrived. All in all, a very good start to the Area 22 year.
