Area 10 March 2025 update

Area 10 Rep Jeff Sears

Area 10 Monthly report
March 2025

Well, the weather forecasters say that Spring is around the corner and we can expect mild, dry, sunny days over the weekend which is great news for those of us heading to Petroyle Restorations on Saturday.  More on that later.

There was great turnout for our February meeting at The Spring Inn - assistant rep Liz Constance hosted the meeting and reports that despite the freezing weather forecast there were eight Astons in the car park and an excellent turnout of 25 members enjoying dinner and drinks.

Future Events

The month of March starts on Saturday and I expect that several of your SORN’d Astons will be back on the road.  So, with the excellent weather forecast, it would be great to see a good turnout of Area 10 Astons at the Petroyle Restorations Car & Coffee morning near Burford on Saturday 1 March.  They write:

“This event provides a wonderful opportunity to explore our workshop and admire our extensive collection of cars, including a notable selection of Aston Martins.

We have a special event planned for March 1st, and we are particularly excited to welcome as many Aston Martins as possible … While we typically charge an entry fee of £5, we are pleased to offer complimentary tickets to you and your club members for this event.”

For our March meeting we are returning to The Spade Oak, Bourne End, SL8 5PS, where they are reserving the Snug for us – I will see you there on 13 March from 6:30pm.

Rob Smith has arranged a brunch meeting at the Renegade Brewery, Yattendon on the morning of Sunday 16 March.  The plan is for us to arrive from 9:00am and park in a reserved area in front of the brewery until 12.00.

I have an update on the AM Reading post-winter service clinic on Saturday 22 March.  The day will comprise:

  1. Vehicle Health Check slots available to book throughout the day
  2. Curv Simulator on site, to test your racing abilities, with the best time on the day winning a prize
  3. Crepes and coffees available throughout the day

Our April meeting, on the 10th will be held at The Bird in Hand, Knowl Hill.  It will feature our annual quiz and AGM.  At the brief AGM I will summarise our Area 10 accounts and hold our elections for rep and assistant rep.  Both Liz Constance and I are happy to continue for another year, but please get in touch if you are interested in either of the roles. Liz focuses on the website and social media, but we would welcome an assistant rep to help with events.

As I write, there are still places available for the Chicane Open Morning on Saturday 26 April from 9:30am to 12:00pm.  You can see more details and register via the club website

I now have the details for our Pizzas on the Farm evening on Wednesday 21 May at Peterley Manor Farm, Peterley Lane, Great Missenden, Bucks, HP16 0HH - look out for the Peterley Manor Farm Shop and Café sign. It will be similar to last year where about 60 Members and friends parked up from 6:30pm.  We will park all the Astons together, weather permitting on the grass area behind the café garden and by the Alpaca paddock.  If the grass is too wet, then we will have good parking on the hard car park area.  We will have exclusive use of the café.  If you wish to enjoy the food on offer, there will be a charge of £25 payable on the night for:

  • Stone baked pizza buffet
  • Seasonal salad selection
  • Self-serve pavlova

Drinks will be available to order separately at the bar.  Please let me know by 11 May if you wish to join us, plus any dietary requirements.  You can join us just for a drink if you prefer.  Thanks to the Brill family for organising this.

I have been asked to mention an Area 22 event at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire on Thursday 10 July, being held to celebrate the AMOC’s 90th Anniversary.  Full details are on the website Area 22 90th Anniversary Celebration - Berkeley Castle - Events - Aston Martin Owners Club

... and you can be back in time to join us at our Area 10 monthly meeting (venue tbd)!

Simply Aston Martin is being held on Saturday 19 July.  You might just be in time for Earlybird tickets which are on sale until 2pm on 28 February.  Visit the AMOC website for a link to buy tickets and for the option to register to park with other Area 10 Members.
