Start your engines … Spring is here with Summer round the corner.
Here is the Area 22 April calendar full of things to do.. But first, the March event which was the visit to Aston Martin Works attended by 24 members and friends. I was not there personally, but I understand from Ray that it was an excellent event. There were two tours hosted by Paul Squires; the Aston Martin Works President. He provided a great overview of the facilities and skills that the company possess. It was a great opportunity to marvel at the myriad of Aston Martins that were on site either being restored, repaired or up for sale. Many thanks to Paul, Simon and Karen at AM Works for making it a day to remember.
The April meeting is at the Frogmill where Andrea will be talking to us about our chosen charity, CALM, and reporting on the progress of Rory and the other children who we will meet again at the end of the Summer Drive in Northleach on 20th. August.
The April event is our Drive-It Day into Wales on Sunday 27 April, supporting Childline. Details are on the website and we look forward to a sunny day in the Welsh Mountains. We have 12 cars booked already, please come and support this event; it is all in a good cause. If you want to take part, then please let me know by Friday 11 April at area22@amoc.org. I shall be sending out detailed instructions to those attending after that date.
Saturday 3 May we are having lunch at the Ragged Cot. For those who cannot generally make weekday evening meetings this will be a chance to come and meet fellow members. We have had several events at this venue, and they are always good value. On Saturday 17 May we visit Neil and Nikki at Cotswold Prestige Cars to check out what he has in his garage.
Looking further ahead to June it is Middlewick House Open Day with Area 13 and later in the month to Phil and Helen’s Orchard to enjoy a quintessential English champagne picnic.
Organisation of the 90th. Anniversary of the founding of AMOC is well in hand and will be at Berkeley Castle on Thursday 10 July.
You will see from the calendar that Mike is taking us to further new venues for our monthly meetings; The George at Cambridge in July and the Greyhound at Siddington in November.
Before I go, last week I received an email from Aston Workshop Ltd in Northumberland inviting us to their annual event, The Hill. I know it is a long drive! However, they sent me a link to their Newspaper which has some excellent articles and I thought may be of interest to you. aw-newspaper-2024-final-web.pdf
Information on all meetings and events is available on the Area 22 website and the published monthly calendar. The team hopes to see you at as many meetings and events as you can make.
