Area 10 - Additional September update
I will be attending the AMOC International Concours event in Austria during late September / early October and so I will just send a quick interim email now, in particular to give you all notice that we have arranged for another visit to Jenners Café – details below.
But firstly, a quick reminder that the deadline for registering your proxy vote for the AMOC AGM is this Wednesday, 17 September.
Area 10 Member Tony Babington reports that the Chearsley Classic Car Show was a great success again this year with lots of stalls and over 500 assorted vehicles attending, including sports cars, Rolls Royce, military, fire engines and a bus. The six Astons that attended were given a prominent parking spot in front of the main marquee. As promised, the Battle of Britain memorial Flight provided a fabulous flypast – three times – with their blue-painted photo reconnaissance Spitfire, which was built in 1940. It was a lighter aircraft, and faster than regular Spitfires, with cameras replacing armaments, and was flown by the BBMF senior Wing Commander.
We have arranged this year’s brunch at Jenner’s Café to be held on Sunday 26 October from 9:30am. The manager, Marion, is very much looking forward to welcoming us back and will reserve an area of the car park for us. We therefore need to know how many Astons to expect. Graham Maidlow has offered to coordinate our presence there and so please register your interest with Graham at: grahammaidlow@gmail.com The address of the café is Ray Mead Rd, Maidenhead SL6 8NP
That's it for now, but I look forward to meeting up with some of you at our October meeting at The Spade Oak, Bourne End on Thursday 9 October from 6:30pm.
