Newport Pagnell 70th Celebrations

Works arranged a display of 110 cars, all of which were manufactured at the site, ranging from DB2/4 to end of series production V12 Vanquish.

The cars were displayed around the grounds and buildings in clear model groups. The largest group by far were the DBS and V8/Vantage William Towns designed cars. They made for a very impressive sight.

The AMOC were delighted to be asked to run a relaxed concours for the owners wishing to take part. We had a team of 20 judges and they had a very enjoyable time reviewing the cars with their owners. It was great to see so many very nicely presented cars all together.

Over the road from Works stands the old office building, Sunnyside House. Works had arranged for the hoardings to be removed, landscaping and railings to be installed all to set off a lovely display of 12 DB6 cars.

As Works President Paul Spires commented, it was quite an emotional sight and possibly the greatest number of DB6 parked in front of this prominent building for many decades.

During the day there were Q&A sessions with designer, Ian Callum, AML historian Steve Waddingham and engineer and racer Ray Mallock.

The various workshops were open for inspection and to showcase the huge variety of cars and servicing works undertaken on site. It is not everyday that three One 77 cars are seen side by side as well as a Valkyrie, Valour and Vulcan.

The new car sales showroom displayed a Vanquish, DB12 Volante, Vantage and DBX. In the classic showroom potential buyers could be tempted by a DB4 Zagato Continuation.

To close out the day awards were made to the delighted owners of the class winning concours cars.
