Speed Championship

The perfect introduction to motorsport

Sprinting and Hill Climbing - the two types of event that make up the Speed Championship - are the perfect 'entry level' introduction to motorsport.

The Championship has classes for Aston Martins of all eras, and for non-Astons, too, so you can take part in any model of car. Trophies are awarded for Class and over all performance, there is a handicap system for newer entrants who improve their times the most. Cars take their turn on the track one by one and you can drive at a speed that you feel comfortable with.

There are 11 events throughout the UK, held between April and October, and you can join at any time of the year.

Sprint events are held at:

  • Anglesey (North West Wales)
  • Mallory Park (Leicestershire)
  • Goodwood (Sussex)
  • Aintree (Merseyside)
  • Hethel (Norfolk)
  • Curborough (Staffordshire)

Hill Climb events are held at:

  • Harewood (Yorkshire)
  • Loton Park (Shropshire)
  • Prescott (Gloucestershire)
  • Shelsley Walsh (Worcestershire)

How to enter and take part

Any AMOC Member can take part, whether UK resident or not. Simply register for the Championship as a whole, then select a minimum of two events to join. A maximum of six scores count toward the end-of-year awards.

Events are held on closed courses including airfields, established sprint courses and racing circuits. Each run is timed with practice runs (usually two) in the morning, to learn the lines, with competitive runs in the afternoon.

Costs are generally much cheaper than circuit racing. In 2026, the cost to register to take part in the Championship costs £30, and then entering each specific event also incurs a cost; in 2026, prices range from between £63 and £185. Similarly, the cost for tyres and maintenance is also much less than for circuit racing. For many, the Championship format is a great way to learn the race craft ahead of taking the step across to circuit racing.

On this page, you'll find information about the regulations for each class, the Championship registration form, the event calendar, and articles written by the competitors - hopefully everything you need to start sprinting! If you would like to talk further, contact anne.reed@amoc.org

For everyone involved, it's a great, supportive community and a great day out.
