The inaugural Area 4 'Breakfast TT' Trophy

Area Rep | Published on 6/4/2017

The 'Breakfast Tea Tea' started with breakfast tea at Hartley's Bistro and ended with afternoon tea at the Mount Somerset Hotel. Entrants were invited to find their own way between the two locations by stopping to take photographs at various towns and villages whose initials made up a word selected at random at check-in. Clear? It seemed so to everyone who took part, so we'll explain no more here!

Two of the 15 cars, both members' and guests', that graced Hartleys car park for breakfast.

A sumptuous breakfast (that included the day's special, Nasi Goreng) preceded a day of mainly wet driving around Somerset.

Hartley's Nasi Goreng - a particularly good example of the genre!

Competitors included Area 4 members, guests from other Areas and some specially invited non-members in their classic cars. The model range was: DB2, DB4, DBS, Vanquish, V8 Vantage & Roadster, DB9, V12 Vantage S and Roadster, DB11, TR4a and a Lotus Elise.

The average mileage covered was 65. However, with a stunning 200+ miles/points in a DB11, the winner was non-members Mike & Carys Kenefick from Aston Martin Bristol:

Only AMOC members could win the Area 4 Trophy. Ned Thorburn romped home with 140+ miles/points to take the trophy home along with a keepsake pen and portable bucket (very appropriate for the day's weather!):

There was also a Club Teddy for the most creative photograph of the day. Aston Martin Dealer Principal, Aaron Allnutt, was deemed to have won this one by our guest impartial judge, Jane Silk, who also handed over the prize to Aaron and Lindsay. We'll see who gets to keep him!

The view outside the Mount Somerset Hotel remained very attractive, even if the weather was less-so:

The cars sat and ticked quietly whilst everyone was inside enjoying afternoon cream tea:

With thanks to everyone who made this happen (especially Gillian Fawkes); everyone who attended, both members and guests; everyone at Hartley's Bistro and the Mount Somerset Hotel and those from AMOC HQ who supported with prizes, etc.

Here's to the 2018 Area 4 Trophy event... Breakfast TT anyone?
